Horns honking, local residents gave Livingston seniors their own parade Tuesday.
About sixty cars went from Overton County Health and Rehab to Livingston Regional Tuesday afternoon celebrating seniors. Patients watched outside and from windows in both facilities.
“We want to see people smile during this time,” Overton County Resident Jennifer Harvey said. “There’s been so many heartaches and stuff, but just to bring a smile to someone’s face today.”
The horn honks were to show thanks to the hospital workers providing care during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“We sure do appreciate all the medical staff, first responders,” Overton County Clerk Victoria Looper said. “This is an unfortunate time and we’re excited. Hope to bring some smiles to folks today.”
Coy Smith had a special reason for joining the parade Tuesday.
“I just wanted to see my grandma,” Smith said. “I haven’t got to see her in a long time.”
Livingston Police, local fire departments and State Senator Paul Bailey joined the parade. It was organized by Quality Home Health.
