Cookeville Reopening Parks Friday

Cookeville residents going stir crazy will have new recreational opportunities this week.

Several Cookeville parks will reopen Friday.

“Cane Creek Park will be open on Friday, the skate park will be open on Friday,” Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said. “It’s still recommended that playgrounds continue to be closed, so we are not going to open the playgrounds this week, we’re going to wait until phase two of our opening.”

Woods said he still recommends social distancing, wearing masks, and frequently sanitizing hands when the parks reopen.

“Hopefully we won’t have many problems,” Woods said. “But we can’t control that, we can’t police that, we can’t patrol that. We can only encourage folks to do the right thing.”

Woods said he still encourages residents to get as much exercise as they can.

The recreation and arts center will remain closed.
