The Cookeville TBI is searching for a new facility in an effort to meet growing needs.
The current 4,000 square foot facility has become too small for the expanding office. Department of General Services Director Of Communications David Roberson said the TBI is looking for a 15,000 square foot facility.
“The request for proposal calls for potential vendors to get a proposal to us by May 4th,” Roberson said. “After May 4th the state will evaluate the proposals, the Department of General Services and TBI will work together to visit the top two or three locations, and then enter into price negotiations.”
If planning stays on schedule the proposed new space and price will be sent for approval in August. Roberson said the TBI wants the location somewhere inside Putnam County.
Roberson hasn’t ruled out the possibility of constructing a new facility.
“We are looking for the next lease to be 15 years, which is kind of a long time for leasing a facility,” Roberson said. “That’s a sign of stability and a sign that TBI expects to be there for quite a while.”
