Obituaries For Wednesday, April 15

Kevin Charles Archambault, 52 of Baxter, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Kevin chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Davis Haston, age 95 a native of White County, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at Raintree Manor in McMinnville. Mrs. Haston was born May 27, 1924 in Sparta to the late George Virgil & Anna Belle Dycus Haston.  Mrs. Haston was a 1942 graduate of White County High School. She was a retired secretary from Faith Baptist Academy later known as Volunteer Christian Academy.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church while she was in McMinnville. She loved to garden and work with her flowers.  In addition to parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Ernest Boyd Haston; brothers Bransford and Robert Davis; sister Dorothy McWilliams and son-in-law Clark McGee. Survivors include her children Marilyn McGee of McMinnville, Wayne (Sharon) Haston of Lewisbury, PA, Ron (Renee) Haston of Chattanooga; Grandchildren: Jeff (Linda) McGee, Suzette (Jerry) York, Chad (Rachel) McGee, Faith (Ben) Barrett, Carissa Haston, Celeste (John) Martzall, Nathaniel (Gabrielle) Haston, Genny Marie (Taylor) Smith; Great-grandchildren: Brandon, Emily, Daniel, Jeffery, Zach, Lucy, Abigail, Caroline, Kyrie, Katrina, Davis, Truett, Ezri, Ember, Nolan, Caedmon, Selah and Abel. In consideration of health and safety of friends and family a private service will be conducted from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Union Cemetery. A public memorial service will be announced after the social restrictions have been lifted.

James David Howard, age 81, of Sparta, took his final journey into Glory on Monday, April 13, 2020, at his home in the Hampton’s Crossroads community. He made the journey riding on his John Deere tractor, one of his favorite things to do. David lived a full and blessed life. He was a retired over the road truck driver, but he worked many jobs during his life, including at Alladin Industries, managing a shoe store, running gas stations, and farming. In his younger years, he was an avid drag racer. His current hobbies included hunting and fishing with his sons, and working on his antique tractors and taking them to shows. He served in the Army National Guard in the early 1960’s. David loved the Lord, his family, his church, and his friends. He has been a child of God since an early age, and served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church and was part of Sunday School and Senior Adult Group. James David Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Auda Howard, his parent-in-laws, Landon and Jewell Young, and his infant daughter, Scarlett Louise Howard. He is survived by: Wife of almost 60 years- Louise Howard of Sparta; Sons- David Russell Howard (Nicole) of Mission Viejo, CA; Timothy Christopher Howard of Sparta; and Michael Clifty Howard of Sparta; Grandchildren- Jonathon Howard of Sparta; Savannah Howard of Knoxville; Tyler Howard of South Carolina; Courtney Howard of South Carolina; Kyle Roach of Mission Viejo, CA; and Sydney Roach of Mission Viejo, CA. A host of in-laws, nephews, cousins, and his church family and friends also survive. Due to the unusual circumstances we are facing, at this time there will not be a public service. The family will try to have a Celebration of Life service at a later date.

Princeton Lee Ball, 65 of Cookeville, passed on Monday, April 13, 2020, at his home. Princeton was born Sunday, December 5, 1954, in Cookeville. He was the son of the late Charles Edward Ball and Mary Elizabeth (Leffew) Tallant. Princeton graduated from Cookeville High School in 1972 and he attended Tennessee Tech University earning his Bachelors of Sociology, majoring in Criminal Justice in 1977. He worked in Juvenile Justice for over 31 years and was proud of all the kids that he helped along the way. He truly loved children and that legacy continued long after his retirement, as playing Santa to the Upper Cumberland Region. Anyone who knew him knew he was larger than life. He was a kind gentle giant who would go out of his way to help anyone and never met a stranger. He would say his greatest achievement in life was his family and was always the first to say I Love You. To say he will be missed is an understatement, as we feel a part of us will be missing. Princeton is survived by, Wife, Debra Ball; 2 Children, Sarah and Eugene Starkey. and Seth Ball; Granddaughter, Nora Pineda; Sister, Donna, and Willard Denny; Mother, Mary Elizabeth Tallant, and Nephew, Leo Denny. In addition to his father, Princeton was preceded in death by, Step-Father, Lillard Tallant. Private Graveside Services for Princeton Lee Ball will be held at Cumberland Heights Church of Christ Cemetery with Bro. Mike Webb officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you find a way to make a child’s Christmas special in his honor by either donating to your local angel tree or Toys for Tots.

Graveside services and interment for the family of Mrs. Karen Elaine Moore Thomas, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Cookeville City Cemetery. Bro. John Rodgers will officiate. Mrs. Thomas died Monday April 13, 2020 at her residence following extended illnesses. She was born October 23, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Herman Albert Moore, Sr. and Mary Lee Huddleston Moore. Her family lived in Nashville for a time before settling in Cookeville during Karen’s freshman year of high school. Karen displayed a strong work ethic throughout her life, working as a manager with McDonalds and at the original location of Taco Bell in Cookeville. She prided herself in her work while building strong relationships with her coworkers. Later on, she was employed by ARC, working to provide jobs, training resources, and managing grants to benefit those with disabilities including those in the Upper Cumberland diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. She was well respected among her peers and clients who admiringly referred to her as K.T. She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cookeville.

Graveside services for Alan C Burris, 61, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County, TN. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home. He passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 9, 1958, in Fort Riley, Kansas, to the late Otha Donald Burris and Dorothy Nell Alcorn Burris. He worked as a security guard at Walden Security, and was a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Grandparents: CL Burroughs and Doyle Burroughs; Clyde Alcorn and Flora Bell Quarles Alcorn. Survivors include 1 Brother: Rellon (Michelle) Burris of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Sister: Sherrie Merwine of Gainesboro, TN; Aunts: Essie (Roy) Young and Lois Burroughs; Nieces: Elizabeth Peterson, Kendra Burris, and Andrea Burris; Nephews: Dakota Burris and Andrew Burris; Great Nieces: Katlyn Peterson and Chloe Peterson; Great Nephew: Gavin Peterson; and many cousins and other family. Bro. John Mabry will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Byers Cemetery by contacting the funeral home.

Graveside services for Rickey Randall Greer, age 60, of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 12:00pm Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Dodson Branch Cemetery in Jackson County, Tennessee. Rickey passed away on April 13, 2020 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. Rickey was born on October 28, 1959 in Triton, MI to Ralph T. and Margaret Syler Greer. Memorial Donations may be made In Lieu of Flowers.
