Power restoration to the Caney Fork Electric service area could cost over $1 million.
That’s according to Caney Fork Electric General Manager Bill Rogers. Rogers said he has only received billing from a single contractor thus far and there are still a lot of costs to tally.
“We have assembled our internal payroll numbers,” Rogers said. “We had two contractors and we had two cooperatives and four municipal electric systems that rendered mutual aid.”
Caney Fork Electric serves 33,000 customers across more than six counties. 50 percent of those customers lost power when storms ripped through Dekalb, Warren and White Counties last Sunday.
Rogers said his team worked sixteen hours a day the week following the storm.
“I want our members to understand we were trying our best to be as safe as we could with our efforts while trying to get them power restored as quickly as we could,” Rogers said.
According to Rogers there were 108 broken electrical poles from the storm. Sixty percent of those were in White County.
