Tech Trustees Approve Flat-Rate Tuition

Tennessee Tech’s Board of Trustees passed a flat-rate tuition plan at its Thursday afternoon meeting.

Tech President Phil Oldham said that the move has a number of benefits for students, including simplifying the information about what students are being charged and consolidating fees.

Oldham also said the move will help families more accurately project how much their higher education will cost.

“Our recent initiatives when boiled down, is a simple message that benefits students: graduate sooner, pay less and earn more,” Oldham said.

In addition, the Trustees approved The Tech Promise scholarship designed to be a last-dollar scholarship opportunity. The program will begin this fall for freshmen and new transfer students.
