Unemployment rose across most of the state in January including a 1.3 percent rise in both Clay and Cumberland Counties.
Clay County’s 7.2 percent unemployment ranks third most among Tennessee counties. Cumberland County ranks ninth in the state with a January unemployment rate of 6.5 percent.
Putnam County saw a one percent rise in unemployment. County rates are not seasonally adjusted.
Statewide, January is the fifth consecutive month Tennessee recorded an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent.
