Two Bessemer, Alabama men arrested Monday after they were found in the Westhaven Drive-Locust Grove Road area with drugs.
41-year old Richard Dodson charged with the Meth Free Tennessee Drug act and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dodson’s bond set at $32,000. 52-year old Darrell Lee faces possession charges as well the manufacture/delivery/sale of controlled substance.
Sheriffs deputies stopped the two men towing a stump-grinding machine in the tornado area. They told deputies they were helping a homeowner remove stumps. They could not, however, give the name of the homeowner or the address of the home.
Upon running the license plate number and finding that it did not match the vehicle, sheriff’s deputies searched the vehicle. They found a glass pipe, pill bottle, a backpack with pills and a substance that appeared to be marijuana.
Sheriff Eddie Farris said deputies are taking seriously any one attempting to cause issues in the tornado-damaged area. A two-week patrol schedule was developed last week as the sheriff’s department moved from rescue to patrol work.
