President Trump Approves Tennessee Disaster Declaration

President Donald Trump has approved a disaster declaration for Tennessee.

Trump on Thursday ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in Davidson, Putnam, and Wilson Counties. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

Eligible local governments and nonprofit organizations also have access to funding on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work.

Damage assessments are continuing, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.

A tornado struck parts of Middle Tennessee Tuesday morning, killing at least 25 people and causing extensive damage. An F-4 tornado killed at least 18 people in Putnam County and injured more than 80.
