Speaker Cameron Sexton said this morning state officials continue to work together to gather the resources to rebuild.
“There are people on the ground helping. There is a lot of coordination with commerce and insurance and other departments in state government to try to get command centers up,” Sexton said.
Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton, Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter and state officials continue the effort to gather the needed supplies and machinery for the clean up, according to Sexton.
Speaker Sexton spoke with AT&T and said the company plans to set up emergency towers to help with cell service.
“This could be a very long process. The first week we see a lot of action, but this could take months, even years in some parts,” Sexton said.
Gov. Bill Lee plans to allocate a budget to assist the community’s needs.
Sexton confirmed President Donald Trump plans to visit Putnam County Friday to look at the damage.
