Cookeville Woman Charged With Child Abuse/Neglect

Police have arrested a Cookeville woman after finding a seven-month-old child lying unattended in a hotel room next to an empty bottle of alcohol.

Cookeville officers charged Brandi Macia Mendez with child neglect, public indecency, and public intoxication.

An arrest warrant said officers found Mendez late last week outside the Fall Creek Inn wearing nothing but socks. The report said they located the child alone in a hotel room laying next to an empty bottle of alcohol.

Officers noted that Mendez had red, watery eyes and a strong odor associated with alcohol.
