Cookeville Man Charged With Aggravated Kidnapping

A Cookeville man faces charges after he allegedly placed a revolver against a woman’s head and threatened to kill her.

Cookeville Police arrested Devan Alan Clanton on Thursday for aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping. He’s behind bars on $175,000 bond.

An arrest warrant stated that Clanton held the victim at gunpoint for an undetermined amount of time, refusing to allow her to leave the scene. During the incident, Clanton allegedly placed a .38-caliber revolver to the woman’s head and forced the barrel of the gun into her mouth.

Officers noted that the woman’s nose started to bleed during a struggle with blood evident on both parties.

Clanton has a court date scheduled for March 3.
