Baxter To Advertise Water Department Position

The Baxter City Council has voted to accept applications for a water and sewer laborer position.

Mayor John Martin said he’s hoping to hire someone who can do more than just operate machinery.

“We feel like we want to try to hire someone who has more credentials other than just an operator,” Martin said. “We want someone that’s capable of maybe moving on to our sewer department or filling in there at time. Tommy Buford runs the show, but we fell like we need a back up.”

The new laborer will replace Jackie Loftis, who will soon retire after almost 20 years of service to the city.
