Council Approves CRMC Urology Purchase

Cookeville City Council has voted to allow Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) to acquire Upper Cumberland Urology.

City Attorney Dan Rader noted that Councilman Charles Womack could vote for the measure even though he retired from the practice several years ago.

“I do not believe Dr. Womack has any conflict of interest,” Rader said. “He does not have any financial interest in this transaction at all and no ownership interest. He’s free to vote his own conscious on this issue.”

CRMC will purchase the North Oak Avenue facility for $1,150,000. CRMC CEO Paul Korth said the sale includes the building and equipment inside.

“It’s a very good medical office building,” Korth said. “We would start to operate that as a urology practice.”

City Council approved the acquisition during Thursday’s City Council meeting.
