Cookeville To Hold Public Hearing For Grant Input

The City of Cookeville plans to apply for a Community Development Block Grant for the first time in several years.

James Mills is the Cookeville City Manager. He said the city has an increased chance of landing the grant because of its tier three distressed designation.

“We’re considering an INI (infiltration and inflow) project for sewer, but we’re eligible for up to $550,000 so we need to apply if we can,” Mills said. “That’s highly competitive, but this is the first time we’ve actually been eligible, income wise, in many years. So we need to take advantage for all that we can.”

Cookeville will hold a public hearing at 5 p.m. Wednesday to seek input about potential projects.
