A Sunday morning fire damaged a home in Gainesboro.
The blaze started just before 6:45 a.m. at a residence off South Grundy Quarles Highway.
Firemen from multiple departments found heavy smoke coming from the attic and roof area when they arrived on scene. They managed to extinguish the fire after conducting an interior attack.
Jackson County Central Fire Department Chief Jeff Conn said the home suffered extensive damage, but crews managed to save a large portion of the home and its contents.
Conn said the occupants of the home got out safely and no injuries occurred. A cause of the fire remains unknown.
