Putnam County’s increase in building permits and new home construction continued to begin the fiscal year.
County Mayor Randy Porter said 28 building permits were issued during the month of July.
“Out of those 28 permits, 21 of them were for new single-family residential homes,” Porter said. “15 a month is what we’re averaging over the last 55 months, which is amazing. It’s the largest expansion of single-family residential homes that I can remember in all my years in county government. The building boom in Putnam County continues.”
The 21 new homes to begin the 2019-2020 fiscal year was higher than the previous year. 19 new homes were constructed during July 2018.
Porter said the 28 total building permits generated just over $4 million in construction revenue.
Putnam County has now seen 826 new homes constructed since January 2015.
