Clay County Receives $500K THDA Grant For Home Repairs

Clay County has become the latest Upper Cumberland community to receive grant funding for home repair work.

The Tennessee Housing Development Authority announced last week Clay County would receive $500,000 for home improvement projects.

County Mayor Dale Reagan said applications will be available to residents in the near future.

“From the time that we will begin seeing some results, [it will] probably be about eight months to about a year down the road,” Reagan said. “We’ve got to go through the process of applications, and that all goes through the process of determining if they qualify or not. It takes a little time but it’s going to happen.

Fentress, Jackson, and Van Buren counties plus the city of Spencer have all received similar grants from the THDA in the last year. The THDA has awarded nearly $2 million in grant funding to Upper Cumberland communities in that time frame.

THDA HOME grants provide funding for the production, preservation, or rehabilitation of affordable housing for low-income individuals and families.
