Pothole repairs will be taking place along Interstate 40 in Putnam County this week.
TDOT Spokesperson Jennifer Flynn said drivers can expect intermittent lane closures between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“I would encourage people to just pay attention to the message boards and signs. Watch out for our crews out there who are trying to make our roads better and safer for everyone,” Flynn said. “If you don’t have to get on I-40 East or West….just don’t. There’s some alternate routes you can take.”
Repairs will be taking place through Wednesday between eastbound mile markers 286 and 300. Flynn said crews will begin working Thursday to repair potholes between westbound mile markers 291 and 285.
“People need to be aware of that and pack their patience,” Flynn said. “Just leave the interstate for people who are passing through. That way it might help everybody out if people can just avoid that area.”
The schedule of work could be changed or pushed back in the case of bad weather this week.
