An Algood traffic stop led to the arrest of a Cookeville man on meth and firearm charges Friday.
38-year-old Daniel Armstrong faces charges after initially being pulled over for a window tint violation.
Arrest warrants state an Algood Police officer approached Armstrong’s vehicle and noticed a rifle in the passenger seat.
A search of the vehicle revealed over seven grams of a crystal substance believed to be meth. Officers also found a loaded 44 Taurus magnum handgun concealed under the radio in the dash of the vehicle.
Warrants also state Armstrong had his drivers license suspended in Florida in 2012. A records check revealed Armstrong was from Florida and had a warrant for a protection order violation in Baltimore, despite having Montana tags on his vehicle.
Armstrong was charged with possession of meth, driving with restrictions, and having a firearm while in possession of meth. His first court appearance is slated for July 22 after posting his $22,000 bond at the Putnam County Jail.
