Baxter Approves New Budget On Final Reading

Baxter employees will be getting across-the-board raises next fiscal year.

The pay increases part of a new spending plan approved by aldermen on Thursday. It’s the third across-the-board salary increase in as many years.

Mayor John Martin said the 2019-2020 budget will set aside funding for a new side-arm garbage truck. The city will also purchase garbage cans for each resident.

Martin said residents will not be faces with a property tax increase. The board voted to keep the rate at $1.39.
