A Baxter man remains behind bars for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting his wife earlier this month.
Darrin Allan Burkeybile faces charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping following the May 17th incident.
Arrest warrants accuse the 43-year-old of assaulting his wife during a series of arguments inside a home and vehicle. During one incident, Burkeybile grabbed his wife by the hair when she attempted to jump out of the vehicle. He then put a purse strap around her throat and pulled until it broke.
The arrest report also states that Burkeybile placed his wife inside a vehicle and stated she was going to die. Deputies also noted that Burkeybile allegedly sprayed butane on the victim while he tried lighting his lighter.
Deputies responded to the scene and observed numerous injuries to the victim that were consistent with her statement. The victim also told deputies that she was in fear of bodily injury during the entire time.
Burkeybile has not yet posted his $45,000 bond. He makes his initial court appearance on June 17th.
