Putnam Planners Approve Pembrooke Pines Subdivision

Developers have resumed efforts to build a 48-lot subdivision in southern Putnam County.

Planning Department Director Kevin rush said the Pembrooke Pines project originally got underway in 2007.

“They went through and got preliminary plat approval, but the economy started to tank and they just held off,” Rush said. “Preliminary approval over the past 10-years has expired and now they are wanting to come back and get preliminary approval again.

The Putnam County Regional Planning Commission unanimously approved the preliminary plat for the subdivision on Tuesday.

Only a small amount of work will be required before the planning commission grants final plat approval. Planning Department Engineer Patrick Rinks said developers had previously completed the roads and water lines for the area.

“They’ve got a little work to do before they get final,” Rinks said. “As I recall back in 08, they were within a month of getting final approval and being able to sell lots.”

Rush said he does have concerns about an intersection combining Eller Ridge Road, Goolsby Lane, and Amber Meadows Road.

“This is malfunction junction,” Rush said. “There’s really no other way to describe it.”

Rinks said those concerns could be worked out by all parties before final approval.

The subdivision property sits off Eller Ridge Road, just West of Highway 111.
