A Putnam County crash injured a 61-year-old Monterey man Monday afternoon.
Douglas Copeland was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital after crashing his 1983 Chevy pickup truck on Highway 62 West near Meadow Creek Road.
A preliminary accident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol stated that Copeland’s vehicle went off the left side of the road, traveled several feet, and crashed into a standing tree.
The State Trooper’s report noted that a seat belt likely kept Copeland from being ejected from the vehicle. He received treatment for chest wounds and his condition remains unknown.
The report states that charges are pending against Copeland at this time.
