Rural King Still Coming To Crossville

Farming and agricultural retailer Rural King will still come to Crossville.

City Manager Greg Wood said the company continues to work on renovating the former Kmart site despite not receiving a tax incentive.

“Anytime a big group comes in, they’re going to try and do some negotiations,” Wood said. “The council just felt they didn’t want to give them an unfair advantage over existing businesses. They’re pretty much coming in on a level playing field with other folks.”

Crossville Mayor James Mayberry previously expressed concern earlier this month over giving Rural King a tax break for moving into the city.

Wood said the company has invested nearly $4.3 million into the facility and expects the store to open sometime later this fall.
