Baxter Woman Charged With DUI, Stealing Vehicle

A Baxter woman faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and driving under the influence Friday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested 31-year-old Lacy Rice for DUI, theft of property, possession of a controlled substance, and reckless endangerment.

Arrest warrants state the arresting trooper stopped Rice in a 2004 Jeep Liberty that was reported stolen out of Baxter. The trooper identified Rice as the driver who then admitted that she had taken cocaine and drank liquor prior to driving.

Warrants also indicate that Rice had her six-year-old daughter in the vehicle at the time of the stop. A search revealed half a gram of cocaine and three Tramadol pills considered to be a controlled substance.

Rice has since posted her $14,000 bond after being booked into the Putnam County Jail. Her first court appearance is scheduled for June 14.
