A Cookeville man is in jail after receiving his fourth DUI charge Wednesday.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office charged 44-year-old Jimmy Adkins following a traffic stop at the corner of Eaton and North McBroom Chapel Road.

Arrest warrants indicate the deputy recognized Adkins’ black Lincoln and knew he had a suspended license. The deputy pulled Adkins over and noticed he had red watery eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath.

Adkins admitted to the deputy he had two drinks prior to driving. A records check revealed Adkins also had warrants out for his arrest for failing to appear in court.

Adkins was placed under arrest and is being held at the Putnam County Jail. He had previously been arrested for DUI in 2014, 2016, and this February.
