The city of Cookeville will update its pedestrian and bicycle circulation plan in the near future.
Interim Planning Director John Ward said residents can help with the project by attending a public meeting on April 25th.
“We are hoping to get some good ideas out of this process,” Ward said. “The key with any good plan is implementation, and hopefully we can identify some ways to implement the plan.”
Ward said the meeting will focus on opportunities and challenges for pedestrian and bicycle circulation facilities and exploring possible solutions.
“There’s a lot of different ways to accomplish pedestrian and bicycle connectivity,” Ward said. “We’re just hoping to learn what the public would like to see and educate them on what some of the options are.”
Ward said some of the options could include the installation of bike lanes, shared-use paths, or sidewalks.
The city decided to update the plan after receiving a grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation last year.
