Man Charged With Agg. Kidnapping Following Bunker Hill Road Investigation

A Cookeville man faces aggravated kidnapping and escaping arrest charges following an investigation along Bunker Hill Road Thursday.

The Cookeville Police Department announced Friday that 35-year-old Ryan Reed was arrested after authorities forced entry into the home.

Police responded to the residence before 9 a.m. to serve Reed with an outstanding warrant. Reed barricaded himself inside the home and threatened to harm himself and his juvenile son.

Officers were able to force entry into the home until Reed retreated to another room. Negotiations broke down between police and Reed that afternoon, as a Special Operations Group breached the room, secured the juvenile and placed Reed under arrest.

Reed was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for evaluation before being booked at the Putnam County Jail. His bond was set at $52,500.

Police also arrested 40-year-old Daniel Welch, of Monterey, on an unrelated theft charge. Welch was inside the home during the investigation.
