Crossville Agrees To Donate Land To Nonprofit

A Crossville nonprofit has secured a new location if it decides to sell its current property on Sweeny Drive.

The city of Crossville has agreed to donate nearly 4 acres of land to Hilltoppers Inc, an organization that provides support to adults with intellectual disabilities.

Will Ridley is the Crossville City Attorney.

“Hilltoppers is a 501c3 in the community and they’ve been approached by a company that wants to locate here by purchasing their property,” Ridley said. “They’ve (Hilltoppers) approached the city and requested the possibility that the city give them some property as a donation to a 501c3 if they have to move their building.”

Crossville City Council signed off on the agreement by unanimously approving a resolution on Wednesday. Ridley said the resolution is only stating the intent and will of the council.

“We still have requirements in the charter that have to be fulfilled,” Ridley said. “At the time that this becomes necessary, we can come back and trigger our 30-day advertisement period and move forward with that.”

Ridley said a specific location of the donated property will be revealed at a later time.
