Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Wayne Burks, age 60, of Hilham will be conducted 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Campground Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Mr Jackie Wayne passed from this life on February 23, 2019 in Hilham. He was born May 4, 1958 in Jackson County, Tennessee to Della Pritchett Burks and the late Johnnie David Burks. Jackie Wayne was Baptist in faith and a brick mason for many years. He loved riding horses and motorcycles. He enjoyed woodworking and hanging out with his friends. Jackie Wayne loved his children and grandchildren most of all.

Funeral services for Mrs. Glenda Jean Holcomb Brewington, age 81, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday February 26 at Dyer Funeral Home. Bro. Kevin Daughrity will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery. She passed away Saturday February 23, 2019 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville. Glenda was born January 15, 1938 in Pollard, AR to the late Sidney and Geneva Branson Holcomb. She was member of Samaria Church of Christ. Glenda and her late husband Riley Brewington, were the co-owners of the B& B Grill. She later worked for KMart and retired after 20+ years of service. Glenda was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved spending time with family and friends. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10 a.m until service time. Funeral services for Joanne (Gerdes) Stephens, 86, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, at 12:00 p.m., February 26, at Heavenly Host Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery Mausoleums. Mrs. Stephens passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. She was born July, 1932 to the late William and Ester Gertes in Wakefield, NE. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother. She is survived by her son, Mark (Pamelia) Stephens, of Cookeville, a grandson Paul (Jenny) Stephens, one great-grandson, Elton Stephens, of Denver, CO, granddaughter, Dawn (Matthew) Berry, two great-grand-daughters, Brookelynn and Savannah Berry of Cookeville, one sister, Edith Shellington of Baton Rouge, LA, sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Buras and Nancy (Sam) Noto, brother-in-law, Gene Stephens and Jerry Scalan, all of Baton Rouge, LA and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George F. Stephens, her parents and her brother Paul Gerdes. Family will receive friends at the church at 10 a.m. February 26, until time of service.

Funeral services for Mertie Hensley Jones, age 89, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Brother Frank Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial. Mertie passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at NHC HealthCare in Cookeville. She was born Sunday, April 14, 1929 in Gainesboro to the late Luther Thomas Hensley and Prillie Mae Netherton Hensley. Mertie worked at Adams, USA for over 51 years, where she proudly worked on the chin straps for the football helmets used by teams in the NFL. She will long be remembered for loving her family beyond measure. In addition to her parents, Mertie Iona Jones was preceded in death by: husband, Robert Lee Jones; daughter, Mary Ann Ballard; grandson, Randy Joe Ballard; siblings, Ben Hensley, Lillie Murphy, Lou Parrott, Earl Hensley, Katie Hunter, and Denver Hensley. She is survived by: son, Kenneth Harold Jones of Cookeville; sister, Bertha Fowler of Cookeville; granddaughters, Tammy Powell and her husband Chris of Cookeville, and Tina Blue of Waverly; grandsons Jimmy Ballard and his wife Angie of Lafayette, and Kenneth Wayne Jones of Cookeville; great grandchildren, Nicole Jones, Robbie Jones, both of Cookeville, J.T. Blue and Clayton Blue both of Waverly, LeAnn Robbins of Cookeville, Tara Ballard, Dillon Ballard, Brooke Ballard, and Austin Ballard, all of Warren, Michigan, Cody Sullivan, Jared Bilbrey, Mylee Powell, and Addi Powell, both of Cookeville; and a handful of great-great grand children. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dean Reed Wilson, 85, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Birdwell Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Jackson County. She passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. She was born July 26, 1933, in Gainesboro, to the late William Thomas (W.T.) Reed and Sallie Burris Reed Davis. She was married to the late Doy T. Wilson, who passed away May 17, 1992. She was a secretary for Production Credit Association, and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister: Elva Reed Meadows; 2 Brothers: Cecil Reed and Walter Minor Reed; 1 Daughter-in-Law: Vickie Wilson; and a Special Niece: Iva Jean Meadows Whitaker. Survivors include 3 Sons: Jerry (Frankie) Wilson and Randall Wilson, all of Gainesboro, and David (Debbie) Wilson of Bloomington Springs; 5 Grandchildren: Jackie Wilson, Abbie Bryan, Sandy Jo Collier, Russell Wilson, and Michelle Polston; 6 Great Grandchildren: Tomas Allen, Jayla Bryan, Derrick Brock, C.J. Collier, Channing Collier, and Clayton Collier; 1 Sister: Frances “Tootie” Anderson of Gainesboro; and 1 Foster Sister: Willadean Cobb of Cookeville. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Tuesday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Jonathan Lasley Ensor, Sr. 82 of Baxter will be Tuesday, February 26 at 2 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mr. Ensor passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his home in Baxter surrounded by his family. He was born February 18, 1937 in Putnam County to the late Robert Lasley and Nettie Tallant Ensor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years ( Married July 17, 1963),Margaret Carol Herron Ensor on March 25, 2011. Mr. Ensor proudly served his country in the Army. He then worked in Detroit, MI in the Automotive Industry during the 1960’s. Afterwards, he was able to visit 48 states as a truck driver. He has been retired for several years, but loved to research new roads and routes all across the country. His family includes two daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Richard Medley of Silver Point, Jenny and Ken Birdwell of Baxter, son and daughter-in-law John and Janet Ensor of Baxter, seven grandchildren: Cody, Cole and Haven Medley, Dustin Birdwell, Elana Hammons (Josh), Hailey and Thomas Ensor, three sisters and two brothers-in-law Betty Lou Pugh of Dayton, OH, Virginia and T.J. Bennett of Silver Point, Margaret and Wayne Barron of Evansville, IN, one brother and sister-in-law, James Robert and Dorothy Ensor of Dayton, OH, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 PM and after 11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for CW3 (Ret) Douglas B. Harvey, 65 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 beginning at 6:00pm from the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm EST in Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Knoxville. Mr. Harvey passed from this life Friday, February 22, 2019, at his home. Mr. Harvey was born Wednesday, July 29, 1953 in Corbin, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Bruce and Della Harvey. Chief Harvey enlisted in the US Army in March of 1971. During the Vietnam Conflict Doug was stationed in Okinawa frequently flying in and out of South Vietnam. While stationed in Hanau, Germany in 1976 he met and married his wife Carol who also served in the US Army. In 1981 he was directly appointed to the rank and grade of Warrant Officer, W01. Chief Harvey deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1990 for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm during which he was awarded a Bronze Star. After retiring from the US Army in 1992 he continued to serve in uniform as an Army JROTC Instructor in Detroit, Michigan. He retired from the Detroit Public Schools in 2009. After his second retirement he continued to serve deploying as a contractor to Afghanistan supporting the War on Terror. A devoted husband and loving father CW3 Douglas B. Harvey is survived by his wife Carol, his son Bryon, his daughter Carrie, his grandsons Joseph and Jonathan and his granddaughters Mirrabella and Brenda. The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home Tuesday, from 5:00 pm until time of service at 6:00 pm. In Lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Doug’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Funeral Services for Edith P. Brewer, age 103 of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00PM and Wednesday from 10:00AM till time of the service. Mrs. Brewer passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Edith P. Brewer was born on April 18, 1915 in Putnam County, TN to the late Haskell and Nina (Roberson) Harp. She lived most of her life in Putnam County and worked at the Brotherton & Algood Schools as a cook. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. As she aged, she looked forward to visits from family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ashley Noel Morgan, age 30, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Eric Dillon and Bro. Jeff Cotterman will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Mrs. Ashley passed from this life on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Livingston Regional Medical Center. She was born in Putnam County on July 26, 1988 to James and Sue Hicks Morgan. Ashley was a 2006 graduate of Livingston Academy. She enjoyed playing sports especially Volleyball. Her greatest joy was her daughter Olivia Renea Randle. She leaves her husband, Chris Randle of Livingston; daughter, Olivia Renea Randle of Livingston; parents, James & Sue Morgan of Hilham; father and mother-in-law, Randy & Katie Randle of Livingston; brother, Chris Morgan & wife Heather of Alpine; grandmother, Etta Morgan of the New Hope Community; several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Ashley was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Morgan; and grandparents, Thurman & Charlene Bilbrey Hicks. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

A celebration of life for Bobby Joe Sparks, 75, of Gainesboro, TN, will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. The family has chosen cremation. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019, at his residence. He was born December 31, 1943, in Cookeville, TN, to the late Dewey Paul Sparks and Anna Mae Sparks. He was an appliance repairman, and served in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dollie Collier, age 83 of Cookeville will be held Wednesday February 27 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in West Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at Dyer Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Gary Dale Adams, age 83, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday February 28 at Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Smellage Memory Gardens Cemetery. Gary passed away suddenly Sunday February 24 at his home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.

The celebration of Life for Frances Evalene (Phillips) Smith, 88 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Tosh officiating. Frances passed from this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Frances was born Friday, August 8, 1930, in Jackson County, and she was the daughter of the late Millard and Ova (Young) Phillips. Frances was a loving daughter, mother, granny, and friend. She retired from McCord Winn with 38 years of service. Frances was a member of Central Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years and was currently attending Life Church of Cookeville. She will be greatly missed. Frances is survived by: Daughter: Joyce Smith; 4 Grandchildren: Jeff and Trish Smith, Scott and Lindsey Smith, Mitchell Smith, and Wade England; 8 Great Grandchildren: Heather Smith, Heidi Smith, Holly Smith, Wade England, Jr., Jack England, Jacob Smith, Kelsey Smith, and Tucker Smith; Companion: Toby “Blue Diamond”; A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by Son, Glen Smith; 3 Sisters, Daffo Allen, Effie Masters, and Jossie Smith; 3 Brothers, Earnest Phillips, Odell “Boots” Phillips, and Roy Phillips; and Special Friend, AJ Lohorn. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
