Flood waters are affecting Jackson County EMA response times as crews seek alternate routes.
EMA Public Information Officer Derek Woolbright said flood waters have damaged roadways throughout the county.
“Gladdice Highway, which is State Highway 262 that goes over towards the Gladdice community, it’s currently experiencing some issues with some paving,” Woolbright said. “TDOT’s… working on trying to get that repaired but right now that’s completely shut down. We’re having to take a couple different alternate routes to get to that area of the county and that’s slowing our response times.”
Woolbright said flooding has also impacted response times for the Dodson Branch community as well.
“Dodson Branch Highway – State Highway 135 – has been shut down intermittently over the last few days several times, and that’s greatly delayed our response times to the Dodson Branch community at times,” “Right now we’re just trying to work with TDOT and with the county officials to do everything we can to mitigate the flooding that we’ve got going on, try to keep these roadways open and get them back open.”
Jackson County is currently under a flash flood watch by the National Weather Service through Sunday evening.
