Mr. Charles E. “Chuck” Smith, age 75, of Livingston passed from this life on Wednesday evening, February 20, 2019 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. Funeral Services for are incomplete.

Funeral services for Jerry Darrell “Bud” Long, age 74, of Cookeville will be held Friday, February 22nd, 2019 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Dave Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 21, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Friday, February 22, 2019, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Bud passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Bud was born Saturday, July 8, 1944 in Cookeville, Tennessee to Jesse and Dimple Long. Bud loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. He worked as a Service Technican at Sears for thirty years (He started working for Sears in the old Big K building).

Funeral services for Mrs. Burnece “Burnie” Bussell Franklin of Cookeville will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Simpson officiating. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Burnece passed away peacefully at Morningside of Cookeville on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. She was born April 12, 1918 in what is now White County to the late Arthur and Ritha Davis Bussell. She moved to Cookeville with her family as a young child and attended the Cookeville City Schools, graduating from there. Before moving to Cookeville, she attended Davis School in the 8th District, fondly known as “Wildcat School”. She met her husband, L.H. (Lucian Henry) Franklin of Erin, TN, in Cookeville and they were married February 14, 1936. They moved to Detroit, MI, where L.H. worked for Ford Motor Company and lived there before deciding to move back to Cookeville in 1957 to be near family. Burnece excelled as a homemaker and loved entertaining family and friends. Her home was filled with needlepoint pieces she skillfully made. She had a love for antiques and this was evident in her home. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing her recipes. One of her greatest joys was giving a home to stray dogs and other animals including two parakeets. She was a strong advocate for animal rights. She was quick witted and loved to laugh and make those around her laugh. Her family thought of her as “The Queen of the one liners”.

Funeral services for Mrs. June Vickers age 85 of Cookeville will be held Friday February 22 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. June’s family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. Vickers died Wednesday February 20, 2019 at 7 a.m. in Cumberland House Hospice in Crossville.

Funeral Services for Mr. Arvil Edward York, age 77, of the Oak Grove Community will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 from the chapel of the Livingston Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Dugan Smith Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home. Mr. Arvil York passed from this life on Tuesday evening, February 19, 2019 from the Vanderbilt Medical Center. He was born in Overton County, Tennessee on May 11, 1941 to the late Price & May Smith York. Baptist in faith, Arvil served his country in the Army from 1963 to 1969. He loved his family very much. Arvil enjoyed working on the farm with his son Johnny, who was his best friend. He loved being with his grandkids and being retired.

Memorial services for Mr. Robert Lee Nokes, age 80 of Quebeck, will be held at 3pm on Friday, February 22, 2019, in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with James Dukes officiating. Mr. Nokes passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. Born Thursday, December 22, 1938 in Nashville, he was the son of the late Carroll Nokes and the late Bertha Woodard Nokes. Mr. Nokes, better known as “Elvis”, grew up in Nashville and moved to White County 43 years ago. He retired from Robert Orr / Sisco after 35 years of service. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Surviving family members include: wife – Donna Maggard Nokes of Sparta; son – Mike Nokes of Quebeck; four grandchildren – Amanda, Brittany, Christen and Cody; sister – Wanda of Nashville; brother – Richie of Nashville; Eight great grandchildren also survive. A period of visitation with the family will be held Friday, prior to the service, from 2 until 3pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Bryan Lance Adkison, age 53 of Celina, formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 11:00am Saturday, February 23, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Ray Williams Cemetery (999 Pea Ridge Firetower Road, Celina). The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Brent Tevebaugh will officiate. Bryan was born July 1, 1965 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Carol Lee & Maggie Denton Adkison. He was a truck driver. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by grandparents Mary Flossie & James Barlow Denton, Mary Lou & Virgil Lee Adkison. Douglas, Brady, Keith, Joe, Paul and Robert Adkison will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583 to assist the Adkison family with funeral expenses.

Graveside Service for Everette Lee Parks, age 74 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 12:00Noon at the Double Springs Cemetery. Bro. John Davidson will officiate. Mr. Parks passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at his residence. Everette Lee Parks was born on May 27, 1944 in Putnam Co. to the late Taylor Lee & Lola V. (Gentry) Parks. Mr. Parks was a factory worker most of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 Sisters and 2 Brothers. His survivors include: WIFE: Shirley Parks; 2 SONS: Joey Parks and Charles Hancock; 4 DAUGHTERS: Glenda Hopkins, Margie Lynn, Sherry McBroom, and Lola Williams; Host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Charlie Eugene “Gene” Bilbrey, age 85, of the Taylors Crossroads Community will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Harold Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. Gene passed from this life on Wednesday evening, February 20, 2019 from the Livingston Regional Hospital. He was born at home in Overton County, Tennessee on December 30, 1933 to the late Johnie & Reba Deck Bilbrey. Gene was a 1954 Graduate of Livingston Academy and served his country during the Korean conflict. He loved fishing and squirrel hunting and watching the Patriots. Gene leaves his sisters, Lucille Wright of Maryville, Juanita Kirksey and husband David of Madisonville, Nina Oakley of the Hatcher Hall Community, and Irene Neal of Englewood; brother, Floyd Bilbrey and wife Nella Rae of Crossville; several niece and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Clauis “Fox” Bilbrey, Jerry Bilbrey, and Clifford Bilbrey; infant sister, Mildred Marie Bilbrey. The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning, February 23rd from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Gene requested that memorial donations be made to the Nelson Cemetery Fund.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gerelene Wiley, 78 of Cookeville will be held Saturday, February 23 at 1 pm in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Tosh officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Wiley died Saturday February 16, 2019 at 2:16 a.m. at Season’s Hospice in Phoenixville, PA. Gerelene’s family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 12 noon until service time at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner.

Memorial services for Cathleen Lorraine Loveday, age 54, of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday February 23 at Colonial View Baptist Church. Cathleen passed away Sunday morning February 17, 2019 at her home. She fought a tough battle with cancer for many years, facing it with relentless perseverance, unwavering faith, and true strength. She was born August 5, 1964 in Anchorage, AK to the late James Daniel Delaney and Jane Evlyn Lewis Delaney. She graduated from Westover High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1982, and she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Tennessee Tech in 1995. She worked as a cardiac nurse at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and later at TN Heart. Cathleen was a selfless, loving wife and mother, who always put her family first.

Funeral services for Mr. William Ashton Grimsley, age 89 of Cookeville will be held Saturday February 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at Dyer Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Anita Gay Young, 59 of Baxter will be Monday, February 25, 2019 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Bro. Charlie Wills will officiate. She passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home. She was born February 23, 1959 in Temple, Arizona to the late Herman and Helen Caruthers Coffey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by step-mother Berneice Coffey, brothers Daniel Coffey and Ralph Coffey. She was a homemaker and attended Stevens Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed drawing, writing poems, and cooking for family gatherings. Family will receive friends Monday after 11 AM at the funeral home.

The celebration of Life for Frances Evalene (Phillips) Smith, 88 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Tosh officiating. Frances passed from this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Frances was born Friday, August 8, 1930, in Jackson County, and she was the daughter of the late Millard and Ova (Young) Phillips. Frances was a loving daughter, mother, granny, and friend. She retired from McCord Winn with 38 years of service. Frances was a member of Central Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years and was currently attending Life Church of Cookeville. She will be greatly missed. Frances is survived by: Daughter: Joyce Smith; 4 Grandchildren: Jeff and Trish Smith, Scott and Lindsey Smith, Mitchell Smith, and Wade England; 8 Great Grandchildren: Heather Smith, Heidi Smith, Holly Smith, Wade England, Jr., Jack England, Jacob Smith, Kelsey Smith, and Tucker Smith; Companion: Toby “Blue Diamond”; A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by Son, Glen Smith; 3 Sisters, Daffo Allen, Effie Masters, and Jossie Smith; 3 Brothers, Earnest Phillips, Odell “Boots” Phillips, and Roy Phillips; and Special Friend, AJ Lohorn. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
