Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter reports revenue numbers look good through the first seven months of the year.
Porter said Tuesday that the county should be on track to meet projected budget numbers.
“On a good not, so far for the first seven months of the year, we’ve collected $1.1 million more than we collected last year,” Porter said. “That sounds really good, but we budgeted to collect $2.3 million more than we did last year.”
Porter told the county commission that February would be a big month in terms of property tax collections.
“That’s when most of the property tax is paid. As we close out February we’ll see where that number is, but so far we are doing really good on that,” Porter said.
Porter presented a revenue spreadsheet to the county commission Tuesday night.
“Don’t get alarmed when you see some of them that have very small percentages or get excited when you see some of them that have very large percentages,” Porter said. “We still have five months to go and some of these revenues do not come in on a monthly basis.”
Porter says it’s too early to estimate where the county will be at the end of the year.
