CPD Arrests Two on Meth, Felony Firearm Charges

Cookeville Police arrested two people Monday following suspicious activity at T-Mart on North Willow Avenue.

Authorities charged 23-year-old Sara Hammons of Cookeville, and 24-year-old Dustin Click of Arkansas, with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and theft.

Police approached a vehicle in the T-Mart parking lot with Hammons and Click inside after observing potentially suspicious activity.

Arrest warrants indicate the officer noticed a plastic baggie in plain view on the front seat. The bag contained a leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

A search of the vehicle revealed six grams of meth, a 38 caliber pistol, and a 380 cobra reported stolen from Tampa, Florida in 1990. Tampa Police Department confirmed the gun was still stolen. Scales and plastic baggies were also found inside a pink bag in the front passenger seat.

Hammons faces one additional count of resisting arrest after initially pulling herself away from the officer as he took her into custody.

Hammons has since been released on bond from the Putnam County Jail, while Click remains on $30,500 bond. Both are due to appear in court March 18 at the Putnam County Justice Center.
