Failing Drainage Pipe Closes Part Of Highway 70

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has closed Highway 70 North in Monterey due to a slide and failing drainage pipe.

TDOT Spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said the roadway will be closed between Mill Creek Road and Sandy Stone Camp Road.

“We’ve got road closure warnings posted on U.S. 70 North and on I 40,” Flynn said. “We apologize for the inconvenience to those who regularly travel this way, but we’ve got to make this repair.

Flynn said the road will be reopened to traffic when crews finish completing repairs.
