Cookeville Woman Pleads Guilty To Fatal 2018 Crash

A Cookeville woman faces at least eight years behind bars after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide by intoxication Monday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol charged 30-year-old Nicole Leigh Wright following a February 2018 crash that killed 26-year-old Mason Taft.

The single-car crash happened on a private access road off Dodson Branch Road.

Taft suffered fatal injuries when Wright’s 2004 Honda Accord traveled off the left side of the roadway and rolled over. A THP crash report stated that Taft’s body was partially ejected and crushed by the vehicle.

As a range one offender, Wright faces between eight and 12 years. A sentencing hearing will determine the manner of service.
