White County Receives ARC Grant For New Water Lines

White County looks to boost industrial development with a recently-awarded Appalachian Regional Commission grant.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said the funding will install new water lines at the county’s industrial park.

“This has probably been a sixth month process since we applied for it. We asked them to expedite it as best they could due to the fact that we had to make some plans,” Robinson said. “This ended up being right at a $400,000 grant, which is greatly beneficial to us moving forward economically.”

White County will be required to provide a 20-percent match towards the grant, or about $80,000.

Robinson said he hopes the project can get underway by the middle of 2019.

“This grant is conditional on environmental studies,” Robinson said. “As soon as that gets completed then we will be able to move forward with the project.”

Robinson said the water lines will serve any future businesses at the industrial park, along with the new Hormann facility, which is currently under construction.
