11th District Representative Jeremy Faison is recovering after being involved in a crash in Smith County Friday.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports the 42-year-old Faison of Cosby was traveling on I-40 eastbound when he lost control of his 2018 Ford F-150 pickup.
Faison’s truck then collided with a tractor-trailer being driven by 49-year-old Everett Jackson of Memphis. The report states Jackson attempted to brake hard to avoid the collision but was unable to.
The pickup then exited the roadway into the emergency lane, struck a guardrail, and rolled multiple times before coming to a rest on its top.
Faison was transported to Tennova Hospital then to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. The state representative admitted on Facebook and the THP report confirms he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
Faison also stated on social media that he received 28 staples to his head, three broken ribs, and a broken nose in two places.
Citations are currently pending as part of a THP investigation.
