Cookeville City Manager Mike Davidson announced Tuesday he will resign later this year.
A press release from the city indicates Davidson will “pursue other endeavors” and will leave his current position on or around June 30th.
Davidson said in a statement that although he was not seeking employment elsewhere, he was approached for his consideration in his next endeavor.
“This new opportunity provides a forum for me to continue to serve others,” Davidson writes. “The City of Cookeville remains in good fiscal condition and there are many new and exciting developments on the horizon.”
Davidson said he has appreciated his time with the city and looks forward to his future venture.
Cookeville City Council and Mayor Ricky Shelton announced their support of Davidson in the press release.
Davidson became Cookeville’s city manager in 2015 and has worked with the city for over 20 years. A search for the next city manager will begin in the near future.
