Putnam County Receives Another Clean Audit Report

Putnam County has received a clean audit report for the second year in a row.

County Mayor Randy Porter said receiving a clean audit is significant because Putnam County does not have a full-time finance department.

“I think it speaks volumes for the great job that all the county employees are doing and the elected officials and department heads working together,” Porter said. “I think the key to it is a team effort.”

The State Comptroller’s Office on Friday identified Putnam County as one of eight counties to receive clean audits for the fiscal year ending June, 2018.

Tennessee Comptroller Justin P. Wilson said the audits each revealed a strong system that allows for accurate financial reporting and clear checks and balances that help protect taxpayer money.

Porter said the county will strive to continue the trend of receiving good audit reports.

“That is always going to be our goal, to continue doing our very best to make sure that every year we have a clean audit or the very best that it can be,” Porter said.

Only 13 counties audited by the Comptroller’s Office received clean audit reports in fiscal year 2017. The Comptroller’s Office will continue to release fiscal year 2018 audits through March of 2019.
