Cookeville Man Allegedly Assaults Wife And Children

Cookeville Police arrested a man Saturday for allegedly assaulting his wife and two daughters at their Woodland Avenue home.

41-year-old Romelio Martinez faces two counts of assault and one count of aggravated assault.

Arrest warrants indicate Martinez had been drinking when he struck his 12-year-old in the side and punched his 13-year-old daughter in the head.

The warrant also said Martinez struck his wife in the head and attempted strangulation before he fled the home.

Martinez will make his initial court appearance on March 4th. He remains behind bars on $7,000 bond.
