The man who died in a Jackson County house fire has been identified as 46-year-old James Shannon Johnson.
Authorities found Johnson inside a single-wide trailer that caught fire Friday morning. He was pronounced dead at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Captain Dennis Thrasher said the investigation remains ongoing.
“The victim has been sent for autopsy, but to this point there have been no signs that this is anything other than an unfortunate accident,” Thrasher said. “We would like to thank everyone who responded yesterday for their hard work and also let the victim’s family know they are in our thoughts.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
