Man Charged After Killing Dog, Assaulting Officers

A man faces multiple charges after allegedly killing a dog and assaulting two Crossville Police officers.

Arrest reports from the Crossville Police Department indicate officers responded to a residence Monday after reports of a domestic disturbance.

The report states 23-year-old Dylan Case allegedly punched his girlfriend’s dog several times in the head and face before strangling it to death. Case stated to officers he had abused the dog on multiple occasions in the past as a way to cope with anger issues as his medication wore off.

The report indicates Case requested to be taken to the hospital for his declining mental state and was transported to Cumberland Medical Center for evaluation.

Officers were then called to the hospital after Case turned aggressive against security and tried busting through the evaluation room door. Upon arrival, officers tried to restrain Case until he punched both of them.

Case was ultimately restrained at the hospital when an officer threatened to use a taser to subdue him. Officers then transported him to the jail for booking, where he asked an officer to take off his clothing so that Case could “handle him”. Case was placed in restraints and later booked while officials requested further evaluation.

Case faces two counts of assault against a law enforcement officer, one count resisting arrest, and one count of felony aggravated animal cruelty. His bond and court date have not been made available at this time.
