Funeral service for Ruby Eveline Clouse Weaver Sherrell, age 85 of Sparta, will begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The family will have a private burial on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at West Cemetery. Ruby passed away on January 5, 2019 at NHC of Sparta. Ruby was born in Cookeville to Norman Curtis Clouse and Gracie Henny Clouse on September 14, 1933. Ruby loved to quilt and crochet. In her earlier years she worked as a C.N.A at White County Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman (Curt) and Gracie; One son, Hasten Weaver; One daughter, Brenda Weaver Johnson; One brother, Leevoy Clouse; Sisters, Lovie Riddle, Winnie Cooper, Dimple Pistol. Ruby is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Jean Ann) Weaver of Sparta, James (Wynde) Weaver of Sparta; One brother, Danny (Sharon) Clouse of Cookeville; Sisters, Lorrene Ashburn of Cookeville, Pearl Baker of Piedmont, Missouri, Barbara Bohannon of Algood, and Bonnie Tallent of Cookeville; Nine Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren; And two great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Special thank you to the nursing staff at NHC of Sparta. The family will accept visitors from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home.

Johnny Bowman Will Officiate. Ben Was Born On November 5, 1980, In Monterey, To Don And Julie Hitchcock Bohannon Of Monterey. He Passed Away On Tuesday, January 1, 2019. He Was Operator/Manager Of Papa Don’s Pizza And Uncle Roy’s Chicken. He Was A Board Member And Coach Of Monterey Youth Football League For Over 6 Years, And A Graduate Of Monterey High School Class Of 1999. In Addition To His Parents, He Is Survived By His Fiancée, Caroline Horst Of The Muddy Pond Community; 3 Sisters And Brothers-In-Law, Audrey And Wayne Blaylock Of Cookeville, Rebekah And Alfred Beeler Of Crossville, Elizabeth And Wood Talkington Of Athens; 1 Brother, Buck Bohannon Of Monterey; 9 Nieces And Nephews, Maclaine Bohannon, Zaidea Bohannon, Zeke Bohannon, Luke Blaylock, Zolah Beeler, Jack Blaylock, Zuranda Beeler, Benjamin Blaylock And Belle Talkington; And Maternal Grandmother, Mildred Hitchcock Of Sparta. He Was Preceded In Death By His Paternal Grandparents, C.M. And Golda Bohannon; And Maternal Grandfather, Carl Hitchcock. Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Clydia McAlpin Turner, age 76, of Algood, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday January 9 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Donna Peak will officiate. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. Elizabeth passed away Sunday morning January 6, 2018 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was born November 30, 1942 in Algood to the late Clyde and Willie Mary Verble McAlpin. Elizabeth graduated from Algood High School in 1960. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Tennessee Tech in 1964. She was an educator in the Putnam County School System. She taught at Algood High School, Early Childhood Education, and eventually retired from Upperman High School. Elizabeth was a member of Paran Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Patrick Veit; sister, Rebecca Nelson; and granddaughter, Allison Veit, all of Glendale, AZ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Turner. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral services for Bro. O’Neal Huffines, 87, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Draper Cemetery in the Wartrace community of Jackson County. He passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his residence. He was born September 5, 1931, in Jackson County, to the late Curry Huffines and Madge Draper Huffines. On November 30, 1951, he was married to the late Jerldine Forkum Huffines, who passed away January 19, 2017. He was a retired banker, cattle farmer, and Church of Christ minister. He was a member of the Cubb Creek Church of Christ. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Harold Draper Huffines; and 2 Sisters: Eva West and Margaret Juanita Richardson. Survivors include 2 Sons: Danny Neal (Gail) Huffines of Gainesboro, and Glen Draper Huffines of Crossville; 3 Daughters: Sheila Ann (Benny) Carlton of Gallatin, Madge Eulan (Rob) Reynolds of Acworth, GA, and Amanda Jois (Matthew) Scoggins of Gainesboro; 9 Grandchildren: Patrick (Sheila) Huffines, Kristi (Greg) Crawford, Heather (Trent) Thomas, Elizabeth (Blake) Marksberry, Jeremy (Kayla) Reynolds, Megan Reynolds, Adrianna Scoggins, Micah Scoggins, and Abigail Scoggins; and 1 Sister: Patsy (Harold) Denton of Maryland. 10 Great Grandchldren and 1 Great Great Grandchild also survive. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., Tuesday from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Patricia Shantelle Newport, age 49, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Tiebout officiating. Interment will follow in Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery in Oneida, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home. Patricia passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Mr. Michael Erwin Goodwin, age 70 of Nashville, formerly of Sparta, funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Saylors Cemetery with full military honors presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. Mr. Goodwin passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. Mr. Goodwin was born September 24, 1948 in Covina, California to the late Herbert Miller Goodwin and Linnie Erwin Goodwin. He had a work career that spanned from working at the family grocery, Goodwin’s Store, at Baker’s Crossroads to Nissan and later UPS. When he was not working, he enjoyed playing guitar and writing music. Michael served his country in the United States Air Force. Surviving family members include his son Neil Goodwin and wife Rhonda of Sparta; Daughter: Jenny Goodwin Thacker and husband Chris of Cookeville; Grandchildren: Adrian Williams, Drew Thacker and Drake Thacker; Two brothers: Joel Goodwin and wife Virginia of Mt. Juiet, Bruce Goodwin and wife Ruth Ann of Reston, Virginia; Niece: Dana Freeman; Nephews: David Goodwin, Chris Goodwin and Matt Goodwin. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00am until time of the service. Dr. Jason Groe will officiate.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Lee Butler, 82, of Cookeville, will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 9 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston of Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Roberts officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Thursday January 10 at Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro. Mr. Butler passed away Sunday evening January 6, 2018 at his home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Sue Halcomb Bilbrey, age 71, of Rickman, will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 from the chapel of the Livingston Funeral Home. Bro. James Williams, Bro. Chris Sparkman and Bro. Tommy Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Eckel Cemetery. Mrs. Barbara passed from this life on Monday morning, January 7, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born in Letcher County Kentucky on April 22, 1947 to the late Otis and Sarah Jane Osborne Halcomb. Barbara loved her family dearly and enjoyed reading, needle point, and going to church. She was a member of the Zion Hill United Methodist Church. Barbara leaves behind her loving husband, Hershel Bilbrey of Rickman; sons, Steve Bilbrey & wife Teresa of Rickman, and Keith Bilbrey & wife PJ of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Evelyn Shepard of Slemp, KY, and Saundra DeFrance & husband Brian of Livingston; grandsons, Issac Bilbrey, Jared Bilbrey, Alex Bilbrey, Holden Bilbrey, and Shawn Singh; granddaughter, Lindsey Garner & husband Nathan; great-granddaughters, Baylee Garner and Charley Garner. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Brain Cancer Society.

Funeral services for Mr. John Fonville, age 66 of Cookeville, will be a 1 p.m. Friday January 11 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Smellage Cemetery. Mr. Fonville passed away Saturday January 5 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. and again Friday from 11 a.m. until service time.

Memorial services for Mrs. Janet ‘Jan’ Parsons Jordan, age 60, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, January 12th at 12:00 p.m. at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. She passed away Sunday morning, January 6th at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
