A Wednesday afternoon crash claimed the life of a McMinnville man.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 35-year-old Freddie Eldridge.
Officials said the head-on crash happened around 3:20 p.m. on Highway 146 near the DeKalb and Cannon County line.
A THP crash report indicates that Eldridge was traveling South in a 2013 Honda Civic when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane while negotiating a curve and struck a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 51-year-old Melissa Stringer of Smithville.
Eldridge was pronounced dead aat the scene and Stringer received treatment at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
