Monterey officials hope to make some progress on the new Taco Bell restaurant in 2019.
Mayor Bill Wiggins said Taco Bell officials have recently been in touch with the codes enforcement officer.
“They indicated to our codes enforcement officer that they should begin site preparation and construction in March 2019,” Wiggins said. “There was no announced completion date, but we expect they will be open pronto.”
Wiggins said the Mexican-style restaurant will be built on Stratton Avenue near the Bank of Putnam County.
“Stratton is a very very busy street and we expect it to become a lot busier with this business,” Wiggins said.
Wiggins said Taco Bell will be a boost to the town’s economic plan and efforts to keep Monterey competitive and on the move.
“I’m excited about private investors seeing value in Monterey and being willing to risk and take care of our folks,” Wiggins said.
Taco Bell announced in July that they would be locating in Monterey.
