Monterey Encouraging Involvement In Park Group

Monterey officials want area residents to become members of the newly created Friend’s of Meadow Creek Park group.

Cultural Administrator Julie Bohannon said the group allows citizens to help the city with park related projects.

“We had so many people wanting to participate in helping with the park. This gives them a place to express their talents, passion, and energy for the park,” Bohannon said. “As soon as we got our master plan together, we decided that a friends group would be necessary so that we all are on the same page and doing things that will improve the park.”

Bohannon said residents can become members of the group by filling out a form at the Monterey Depot Museum.

“They can also connect with us on Facebook and we will be glad to set them up,” Bohannon said. “We’ve already got about six members and we have 80 or so people following us on Instagram.”

Bohannon said the group will hold its first official meeting sometime after the new year.

Earlier this month, the Monterey Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved bylaws for the group.
