A theft case involving Former Smithville Mayor Jimmy Poss and his son Anthony will head to trial next summer.
Both the former mayor and his son appeared in court Tuesday for a deposition hearing. The trial is slated for July 23-24 beginning at 9 a.m. at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
The two were charged earlier this year after it was revealed the mayor had hired his son to work at the city golf course without permission from the town’s Board of Aldermen.
The former mayor faces one count each of theft over $2,500 and official misconduct, while Anthony Poss faces one count of theft over $2,500.
