Tennessee Tech officials have ceased operations of its local Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chapter following the death of a non-Tennessee Tech student.
Authorities discovered an unresponsive 23-year-old male at the fraternity’s house located on West 5th Street. Officers administered CPR on the man before he was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center where he later died.
Tech officials released a statement Monday saying the chapter cannot hold any activities other than meetings with advisers present pending an investigation.
Cookeville Police have not released the identity of the man until next of kin is notified. Foul play was not believed to be a factor in the man’s death. The investigation remains on-going.
